The Cape Henlopen Educational Foundation once again recognizes the dedicated teachers of the Cape Henlopen School District by providing awards of $100 for the purchase of classroom resources to eight Teacher of the Year honorees.
The awards were presented at the district’s annual Welcome Back event by CHEF board members Cathy Hopkins Miller and Jeff Gordon to the following top educators: Michael Connors, Cape Henlopen High School; Shannon Fowler, Mariner Middle School; Amanda Johnson, Rehoboth Elementary; Jennifer Leach, Richard A. Shields Elementary; Emily Lehne, Beacon Middle School; Joseph Meszaros, Sussex Consortium; Olga Tigne, Milton Elementary; and Stephanie Shuttleworth, H.O. Brittingham Elementary. Shuttleworth, who teaches special education, was named Cape School District Teacher of the Year for 2013-14.
“We are so proud of all the dedicated teachers at Cape and are happy to supply this small token of our appreciation for the extra care they provide our students,” said Rick Grier-Reynolds, CHEF president.
Since 2006, CHEF has funded 140 teacher grant requests as well as student grants, performing arts scholarships, and anti-bullying and homelessness programs totaling more than $85,000 in educational support to the nine Cape district schools. Donations to CHEF are tax-deductible.
