Neva J. Baker, retired bookkeeper
Neva J. Baker, 83, of Milton passed away Monday, Jan. 12, 2015, at home. She was born in Milton, the daughter of the late William M. and Amanda M. (Campbell) Crouch.
She graduated from Milton High School, Class of 1949, and was the salutatorian.
She was a bookkeeper for Swift Company in Georgetown for three years, Draper Canning Company in Milton for four years and Reed Trucking Company in Milton for 36 years.
She was a member of Goshen U.M. Church, Goshen U.M. Women, Milton Century Club, Milton Senior Center and The Piece Makers Quilt Guild of Milford. She was a founding member of Friends of the Milton Public Library, serving as treasurer for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ira R. “Dick” Baker; and brother, Daniel Crouch.
She is survived by her children, Donna Schirmer of Milton, Karen H. Wyatt and her husband Dale of Tavares, Fla. and I. Richard Baker and wife Christie of Dover; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 17, at 2 p.m., in the chapel of Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, where friends may call after noon. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milton.
