John 'Jack' Williams, avid outdoorsman
John F. Williams (Jack), 83, of Lewes, passed away peacefully Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015.
Born in New York City, N.Y. Aug. 3, 1931, Mr. Williams was a son of the late James Williams and Agnes Dougherty Williams. He held a position with the DuPont Company in Newtown Ct where he worked as an engineer until his retirement. Mr. Williams raised his family in New Canaan, Conn. prior to retiring in Lewes.
An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Williams enjoyed sailing and fishing. He was an experienced ham radio operator 'WA1QBQ' and spent many happy hours persuing the hobby. Active in his community, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus (Council 2287) and a volunteer at New Canaan Fire Department. Mr. Williams will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, brother and grandfather, and will be dearly missed.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Loretta McLaughlin Williams. He is survived by his sons, Dr. John Williams (Marty) of Hockessin, Mark Williams (Jane) of Hockessin, and Jim Williams (Marian) of Silver Spring, Md.; brother, James Williams of Jacksonville, Fla.; and seven grandchildren, Jack, Jamie, Mike, Matt, James, Katie, Ian.
Services and interment will be private.
