Edward H. Lorah III, gentle giant
Edward H. Lorah III, 58, passed away suddenly Wednesday April 22, 2015, due to complications from heart surgery. Ed was born Jan. 10, 1957, in Phoenixville, Pa. with his twin brother Donald, the son of the late Edward H. Lorah Jr. and Gertrude (Yuengling) Lorah.
Ed graduated from Cape Henlopen High School in 1974. He was a local business owner and a fixture of the Lewes/Rehoboth community. Ed was known as a gentle giant and was loved by everyone he knew. He made friends wherever he went. Ed loved to hear a good joke and was also quick to tell one. His passion was for restoring custom cars which he owned and restored many of in his lifetime.
In the late '70s Ed was a Delaware Arm Wrestling Champion and held a second-place title at the East Coast Arm Wrestling Competition. Ed will also be remembered for always having a dog by his side. He loved his canine companions, who were usually a black Labrador Retriever and most recently, a Springer Spaniel named Bentley.
Ed will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him and loved him, and even those who recently met him.
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his sister, Christina Fisher; and his niece Jennifer Fisher. He is survived by his twin brother Donald and his wife Elizabeth, his brother William and his wife Karen, his nephews, Donald and Pete Lorah, his nieces Jordan and Courtney Lorah, his companion Fay Marsh and his dog and cat.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, April 29, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, 16961 Kings Highway, Lewes, where friends may call beginning at 1 p.m. Interment will be private.
