Ferry Fun and Fireworks - Ferry Hosts Two Special Cruises to Celebrate Independence Day

(Lewes, DE) Get a front row seat to enjoy this year’s fireworks celebration aboard the Cape May – Lewes Ferry!  This year, the Cape May-Lewes Ferry is offering two great fireworks cruises over the Independence Day weekend.  These special cruises are set to depart the Lewes Terminal on July 3 and July 5.  The tickets for each cruise are $30 for adults and $15 for children under the age of 12.  Due to limited capacity, reservations are strongly recommended.

“This year, our customers get two unique opportunities to see a great fireworks display,” said Heath Gehrke, Director of Ferry Operations.  “There is no better way to view the fireworks than from the ferry, where there are no obstructions and the sound and light plays on the water.  Be sure to reserve your front row seat early as both the Bay Fireworks Cruise to New Jersey and the Ocean Fireworks Cruise to Rehoboth Beach are sure to sell out quickly.”

July 3 Bay Fireworks Cruise to Lower Township, New Jersey

Get a front row seat to enjoy this year’s fireworks celebration aboard the Cape May – Lewes Ferry’s MV Delaware!  This year’s Annual Independence Day Fireworks Display will once again illuminate the Delaware Bay Coastline in Lower Township, New Jersey.   The fireworks show will launch at approximately 9:00 p.m. from a barge roughly one half mile off shore of the Cape May ferry terminal.

Check-in time for the cruise is from 5:00 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Photo ID is required for the person picking up the tickets. Boarding of the ferry will begin at 6:45 p.m. and the scheduled departure time is 7:15 p.m.  The fireworks are scheduled to begin at 9:00 p.m. and run until approximately 9:30 p.m. The Ferry will return to Lewes at approximately 11:00 p.m.

July 5 Ocean Fireworks Cruise to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware

For an incredible fireworks display of a different flavor on the Atlantic Ocean in front of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, check-in for the cruise from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Photo ID is required for the person picking up the tickets. Boarding of the ferry will begin at 7:00 p.m. and the scheduled departure time is 7:30 p.m.  The fireworks are scheduled to begin at 9:00 p.m. and will be discharged from the beach over the water until approximately 9:30 p.m. The Ferry will return to Lewes at approximately 10:30 p.m.

Both special fireworks cruises will feature live music courtesy of “Glass Onion” and interactive children’s entertainment provided by Mike Warren and “Just Kidding Around.” Food and drink will be available for purchase both nights at each terminal’s waterfront grill and aboard the ferry.

The ferry is handicap accessible via the foot passenger building. There will be no coolers, carry-on beverages, or pets allowed on board, however, passengers are allowed to bring a folding chair.  There are no refunds on purchased tickets. The cruises only depart from Lewes, and do not dock at Cape May.  Neither fireworks display is visible from the Lewes Ferry Terminal.
