The Buttery Restaurant in Lewes will host an open house for local photographer Robin Ray from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 16. Ray, a nature and wildlife photographer, was born and raised in Lewes. She has received numerous awards for her photography, and has been published in two editions of Outdoor Delaware.
The majority of Ray's time is spent providing care for elderly family members. In her free time she can be found taking pictures of wildlife at Bombay and Prime Hook National Wildlife Refuges. She has also photographed eagles at Conowingo Dam in Maryland and Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge. Recently she traveled to western Maryland to take pictures of the wildlife and scenery along the Savage River.
Ray has donated her photographs for auction to support research on Huntington's disease, autism, breast cancer, and the annual Mardi Gras fundraiser for student scholarships at Delaware Technical Community College.
Ten percent of any sales during the Aug. 16 open house at The Buttery will be donated toward the restoration of the Allee House at Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge. Her photographs will be on display and for sale at The Buttery Restaurant through Saturday, Sept. 26.
