Six injured in Route 1 crash north of Lewes

October 23, 2015

Route 1 was closed in both directions for about an hour about 5 p.m., Oct. 23, after a crash north of the Nassau bridge. Master Cpl. Gary Fournier with the Delaware State Police said David Tracey, 33, of Smyrna, was driving southbound on Route 1 approaching Devon Road, the entrance to Mill Pond Acres, when a 16-year-old Milton boy pulled out into the path of Tracey's Ford F150. Tracey crashed into the driver's side of the boy's Nissan Sentra.

The boy was flown to A.I. DuPont with non-life threatening injuries. He was cited for failure to remain stopped and no insurance in possession.

A 51-year-old passenger in the boy's vehicle as well as Tracey and his three passengers, including two children, were transported to Beebe Healthcare, also with non-life threatening injuries.
