St. Thomas More students visit Vatican exhibit in Philadelphia

Some 30 St. Thomas More Academy in Magnolia finished exam week by hopping on a bus and traveling to Philadelphia to visit the Franklin Institute’s exhibit on Vatican history.
The exhibit, Vatican Splendors: A Journey Through Faith and Art, features historical and religious collections to provide a window to the Vatican’s role in the world, with objects, artwork and videos depicting 2,000 years of history and tradition. The students participated in an institute-provided scavenger hunt and absorbed a host of historical and religious information in completing their search of the exhibits.
The students' favorite parts of the exhibit were the Michelangelo and St. John Paul II sections. Tim Freud, STMA religion teacher, said,"Many of the students were overwhelmed by both the enormous historical significance and preservation of such important antiquities of the Catholic church. It really brought church history to life."
