The Bayhealth Foundation recently appointed four new members to its Board of Directors.
Michael G. Sweeney, MD, has been a member of the Bayhealth medical staff since 1989. He has served on and chaired multiple hospital committees over the years, and was a member of the hospital board for 11 years. Sweeney moved to Dover in 1986 while serving in the Air Force.
Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, he attended the University of Maryland for undergraduate studies, and Georgetown University School of Medicine for his medical degree. He has been happily married to his wife, Lynne, for 43 years, and has four children and 10 grandchildren.
Gary Camp is the vice president of Marketing and Communications for Dover Motor Speedway. Camp has been a member of the Speedway team for 20 years and oversees the planning and implementation of the facility’s marketing and communications efforts. He also serves as the primary agent for communicating the activity and business position of the Speedway to the media, generating positive publicity for the track’s NASCAR race weekend, music festivals and other Speedway Motorsports events.
He currently serves on the board of directors of Make-A-Wish Philadelphia, Delaware and Susquehanna Valley and Kent County Tourism Corporation, and also serves as the executive director of Speedway Children’s Charities, Dover Motor Speedway chapter. He resides in Wilmington with his wife Kristin, and their daughters Lily and Olive.
Holly Pfeifer, who was married to the late Donald Pfeifer, MD, is a long time donor to Bayhealth. Most recently, she contributed to the Bayhealth Sussex Campus project, including a gift to dedicate the Medical Staff Lounge in the new hospital in Dr. Pfeifer’s memory. An orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Pfeifer joined the medical practice of the late Edward F. “Terry” Quinn, III, MD, founder of The Dickinson Medical Group and former chief of surgery at Milford Memorial, when the couple moved to Milford from Baltimore in 1977.
A former home design and residential architecture freelance consultant, Pfeifer freelanced with architectural firm French & Ryan on the design of the third building for The Dickinson Medical Group — now known as Bayhealth’s Quinn Medical Offices.
Kathy Newcomb is the vice president of business development for Coldwell Banker Premier in Rehoboth Beach, and she is involved in the financial oversight and management of her family restaurant, Irish Eyes Pub & Restaurant.
She devotes her time to multiple charities and organizations, and served as a board member for the Jason Anderson Foundation for Youth Sports and as treasurer for the Cape Henlopen Field Hockey Boosters. She resides in Milton, Delaware, with her husband and two children.
