As part of its ongoing commitment to enhancing mental health care accessibility, Bloom Health Centers’ Lewes office is thrilled to announce a significant expansion of its treatment team. Under the dedicated leadership of Dr. Colleen Leitner, this in-network outpatient mental health practice is taking strides to broaden its capacity to serve the Sussex community.

Dr. Alexandra Cox, DHSc, PA-C, physician assistant, is joining Bloom in Lewes. With over a decade of clinical experience, Dr. Cox holds a Doctor of Health Science degree focused on postpartum depression. Leveraging her doctoral research and specialized perinatal mental health training, she can assess and treat women when they might not feel like themselves. Throughout the stages of pregnancy and post-pregnancy, Dr. Cox collaborates closely with the healthcare team to enhance overall maternal well-being.

Additionally, Dr. Cox boasts experience working in military settings, providing care to service members before and after deployments, evaluating mental health concerns, and promoting duty readiness. As a military spouse, she intimately understands the challenges of military life and uses this experience to connect with her patients and families.

At Bloom, Dr. Cox will attend to teens and adults dealing with a range of mental health disorders, with a focus on depression and anxiety. She offers personalized treatment plans encompassing both pharmacologic and therapeutic interventions.

Bloom also welcomes Katelin Talbert, PA-C, a certified physician assistant, to the Lewes location. Before joining Bloom, Talbert worked as an orthopedic physician assistant at Peninsula Orthopedic Associates. She earned her Master of Science degree in physician assistant studies from South University in Savannah, GA, graduating at the top of her class. She completed her undergraduate degree in Biological Studies from Salisbury University, earning Magna Cum Laude honors. Notably, she was also a key member of the 2x national championship Salisbury Women’s Lacrosse team. Prior to undergraduate studies, Talbert grew up in Salisbury and attended Worcester Preparatory School in Berlin.

Talbert's approach to mental health combines medication management and psychotherapeutic techniques to help patients attain their mental health objectives. Talbert’s experience as an athlete has influenced her practice, and she emphasizes the mind-body connection in developing treatment plans. She is interested in holistic treatment approaches, including exercise and dietary interventions, mindfulness-based practices, and somatic experiencing techniques.

Bloom Health Centers is excited to welcome Alexandra Cox and Katelin Talbert to its family of professionals, as their unique blend of skills and compassionate approach align with Bloom’s commitment to proving patient-centered mental health care to individuals of all ages in Sussex County.

The Bloom Health Centers clinic is conveniently located at 1304 Savannah Rd in Lewes. Bloom prides itself on its accessible approach, and its clinicians are in-network for a wide range of insurance plans, including Medicaid and Medicare. With flexibility in mind, Bloom Health Centers offers various appointment scheduling options, including in-person and telehealth services.
