International Little League Event, Final Days of State Fair and a Large Greek Festival On Tap in and Near the Coastal Region
We hope everyone is enjoying the 2019 summer season here at the Delaware and Maryland beaches, but wow is it passing quickly. We’re already featuring events and gatherings for the final weekend of July, which means that only a month or so remains before the good folks in Bethany Beach lay another season to rest with their annual Jazz Funeral.
But while it’s going quickly, the summer is certainly not over yet and we’re going to tell you about some fun and exciting things that are coming up over the next days.
The spotlight for the next week or two is going to be on the southern coastal area, specifically tiny Roxana, as teenage girls, their families and supporters all arrive at the Delaware beaches for the annual Senior League Softball World Series.
This event has been held in southern Delaware for nearly two decades now. Be sure to read more about this below and plan on stopping by for a game or two during the weeklong tournament.
Now without further ado, here are the Oldfather Group’s top choices for fun, family friendly events at and near the coastal region for the final weekend of July.
Little League Softball Senior League World Series (July 29-August 4). Held every summer at the Lower Sussex Little League complex in Roxana, this Little League International event features teams from all throughout the United States, as well as Latin America, Canada, Asia and Europe.
It’s the final destination for teenage girls who play throughout the summer for a chance to participate in the World Series. And the final weekend of the event will once again be televised on the ESPN television network.
This is the 44th year for this particular event, and the 19th year it’s been held in Delaware. The 2018 tournament was won by the Asia-Pacific representatives from the Philippines.

Conclusion of 2019 Delaware State Fair (July 25-27). The 2019 Delaware State Fair is in its final days, but you still have a few chances remaining to head north and visit the state fairgrounds in Harrington.
Highlights over the last three days of the fair include an appearance by the Anheuser-Busch Clydesdales, prehistoric dinosaur adventures, a camel show, a concert by the legendary Gladys Knight and a whole lot more!
And of course the carnival rides, the fair food, the agricultural exhibits and all of the other things that the Delaware State Fair is known for will continue through the final bell on Saturday evening.
