‘The Nutcracker on Ice’ set Dec. 2-3
The Bay Country Figure Skating Club invites audiences to enjoy its skating adaptation of a beloved holiday classic ballet with “The Nutcracker on Ice,” at 6 p.m., Friday, Dec. 2, and 1:30 and 5 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 3, at the Centre Ice Rink at Delaware State Fairgrounds in Harrington.
“The Nutcracker” is the tale of Clara, a little girl who receives a nutcracker doll for Christmas and dreams of a snowy fairytale land populated by a cast of toy soldiers, mice, dancing candy and royalty.
Directed by the centre’s Skating Director Jerry Santoferrara and coach Tom Harrison, the show features 50 local skaters of all ages and skill levels. Bay Country Figure Skating Club members as well as students and coaches from the rink’s skating programs perform to Tchaikovsky’s famous music with a few twists and variations. Special guest skaters will be national competitors Emmanuel Savory and Isabella Garland.
