‘The Wolves of K Street’ hits Lewes
A brother duo, Luke and Brody Mullins, published their new book, “The Wolves of K Street,” in May.
“The Wolves of K Street” is a nonfiction narrative that portrays the questionable world of modern lobbying and the impact it has had on American politics and democracy.
“A lot of these issues [lobbying, campaign finance, etc.] are important, but they can be very dry and dull,” said Luke. “We thought the best way for people to learn about this stuff is through stories that really compel them.”
Luke explained how a lot of what occurs in the lobbying world is done in secret, and it is hard for regular citizens to actually be aware of what is happening.
“There’s a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes,” said Luke. “So that’s what we wanted people to know – about all the things that are happening that they might not otherwise know about.”
Brody is an investigative reporter with The Wall Street Journal in Washington, D.C. He led a team that went on to win the 2023 Pulitzer Prize for investigative reporting. Luke is a writer at Politico magazine, where he covers the people and institutions that control Washington’s levers of power. He has been in the industry for more than 15 years.
Luke and Brody held a successful book event at the Nassau Grove Clubhouse in Lewes. More than 100 people RSVP'd for the event.
Luke speaks very highly of Lewes and the local community. His in-laws retired in Lewes 15 years ago. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Luke and his wife were in need of childcare, and decided to reside in Lewes for a little over two years. This is where most of the efforts for the book occurred. Luke expressed his family’s love for the beach, wildlife and the local restaurant industry.
“We would spend a lot of time out in the wildlife parts,” said Luke. “I would sometimes drive out there and pull over my car and just write.”
