‘Cinderella’ set at Sussex Central High School Dec. 16, 17
The Take Two Drama Club of Sussex Central High School will present Rodgers and Hammerstein's classic "Cinderella" by special permission of the Rodgers and Hammerstein Organization. The show is set for 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 16, and 2 and 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 17, at the Centre for Visual and Performing Arts at Sussex Central High School.
A special princess and prince party will be held at 12 p.m., Saturday before the 2 p.m. matinee. Admission to the party is a separate fee of $5, with proceeds supporting the Students in Action Service organization and Take Two Drama Club. This special event is for children ages 4-10 and over. Cake and other treats will be served. Special royal hair and makeup will be provided by Bad Hair Day of Rehoboth Beach for children who attend.
Children who come in costume will receive a special prize after a costume parade. There will be a special scavenger hunt to find Cinderella's slipper and other fun prizes. Then, Cinderella and her prince will make a special appearance for photos with guests. There will even be dragon-slaying lessons. Director and Sussex Central drama instructor David Warick says, "This party is a great way to kick off the holiday season with your children or grandchildren!" General admission for "Cinderalla" is $8 at the door. Students, seniors and military pay $5. Middle school students with ID are admitted on a special two-for-one ticket for $5. No one will be turned away for inability to pay. Tickets may be purchased at the door starting at 1 p.m. before the matinee and at 5:30 p.m. for the evening performances.
Warick says, "The classic fairy tale has been turned into a moving, funny, and magical story with a great score and a beautiful message about making your own pathway in life!"
