Alton Leon Bowden, worked in poultry industry

Alton Leon Bowden, 72, of Milton died Tuesday, Sept .18, 2018, at home after a brief illness. Leon was born March 26, 1946, in Engelhard, N.C., to the late Ruby M. Spencer and Edgar Bowden.

Leon had worked for more than 34 years in the poultry industry, last as a welder in the cage repair department at Mountaire farms in Millsboro. Leon had become a member of Philadelphia Pentecostal Holiness Church in Ellendale.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Dolena E. Bowden; five sons, Linwood Downing, Jonathan Downing, A. Leon (Bam) and Tiana Bowden Jr., Enrico and Mary Stratton, and Frederick Lee Bowden; one daughter, Elizabeth A. L. and Rodney Williams; 28 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren; five brothers, William and Valerie Bowden, Allen Ray and Maggie Bowden, Charles C. and Mary Bowden, Billy R. and Glenda Bowden and James Mann; and one sister, Beatrice and Alfred Thomas.

Services will be held Saturday Oct. 6, at 2 p.m., at Philadelphia  Pentecostal  Holiness Church, 13724 S. Old State Road, Ellendale. Friends may call at the church two hours before services.
