Art league, city officials to host Rehoboth Beach Arts Festival May 18

April 30, 2024

The Rehoboth Art League and the City of Rehoboth Beach are partnering to produce the city’s annual arts festival from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, May 18, at Grove Park near the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal. A variety of artists will showcase and sell their work, giving visitors the opportunity to buy original pieces and mingle with their creators.

Known for its annual events that draw discerning local collectors, as well as those visiting from the Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia and New York City areas, the Rehoboth Art League is proud to present this event and bring creative minds to coastal Delaware. Held just prior to Memorial Day weekend, the unofficial start of summer, the event will fill Grove Park with tents of original, quality artwork.

Artists featured in this event are art league members and have been juried into the show based on their respective mediums. Each artist will have their own display/sales booth along the pathways of Grove Park and be on hand to discuss their creative process. Sales transactions will be completed with the individual artists. Visit rehobothartleague.org/events for the complete list of juried artists.

Event artist Stephen Brehm has donated an original oil painting, "Waves From a Distant Storm," to the Rehoboth Art League to help raise funds in support of its education and exhibition programs. Raffle tickets are available for $5 each or five for $20, for a chance to win this painting valued at $3,200. Tickets may be purchased at the RAL membership tent or at the Corkran Gallery front desk on the RAL campus in Henlopen Acres. The drawing will take place at the close of the May 18 event.

There is no event-designated parking for the Rehoboth Beach Arts Festival. Payment and enforcement for parking meters and permits will be in effect as of May 15. Grove Park includes part of the Junction & Breakwater Trail for bikers and walkers, and is also accessible by water at Rehoboth Beach's public dock behind the Rehoboth Beach Museum.

The rain-or-shine event is free and open to everyone. It is sponsored by Dogfish Head and WSFS Bank, Bella Terra Landscapes & Garden Center, Brighton Suites Hotel, Community Bank Delaware, The Lee Ann Wilkinson Group, The Insurance Market and Big Fish Charitable Foundation.

The Rehoboth Art League is supported, in part, by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts. The division promotes Delaware arts events at delawarescene.com.

The Rehoboth Art League is a membership-based nonprofit arts organization dedicated to teaching, preserving and inspiring the arts in the region. For more information go to rehobothartleague.org, call 302-227-8408, or find @RehobothArtLeague on Facebook and Instagram.
