Bayhealth launches new 24/7 virtual urgent care

First-time fees waived for Bayhealth@Home visit
January 14, 2022

With Delaware COVID-19 cases surging, Bayhealth is responding in real time to the current crisis by supporting the health of Kent, Sussex and parts of New Castle counties by offering a new 24/7 virtual urgent healthcare service called Bayhealth@Home.

The service is available online or via a mobile app called BayhealthAtHome.

Through Friday, Feb. 11, the health system is offering to waive Delaware patients’ first virtual consultation fee when using Bayhealth@Home, ensuring patients get the care they need, no matter their location or the time of day. The offer is limited to one person per household and is valid through Friday, Feb. 11.

“We understand that our patients’ health needs are rapidly changing,” said Dr. Jonathan Kaufmann, vice president, chief medical information officer. “We are here to support the members of our communities who need timely and quality healthcare during this healthcare crisis and beyond. With Bayhealth@Home, we can connect patients to a U.S. board-certified doctor in as few as 10 minutes, providing a private and secure option for patients when their doctor’s office is closed, they’re too sick or busy to see someone in person, or even when they are traveling.”

Bayhealth@Home comes at a time when hospital emergency rooms, community walk-in clinics and primary care physicians’ offices are overwhelmed with higher-than-normal patient volumes due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The entire healthcare community is urging residents to avoid using the emergency department right now, unless they are seriously ill,” said Kaufman. “Bayhealth@Home is just one more way Bayhealth is delivering on our 100-year promise to make sure that our communities get the care they need, when they need it. That’s also what’s behind our decision to offer a coupon for a first free visit – anything we can do to help our communities get the care they need always remains our top priority.”

To sign up for the service and receive a coupon for a free virtual visit, patients can download the BayhealthAtHome mobile app on IOS and Android devices or go to bayhealth.org/virtual-urgent-care.
