Beach Goes Red, White & Blue June 8 in Rehoboth

The Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce invites the public to join in saluting USO Delaware, Delaware’s first responders, police officers, firefighters, lifeguards, paramedics, military and all those who serve. The 4th Annual Beach Goes Red, White & Blue event will be held Saturday, June 8, in downtown Rehoboth Beach, and activities will begin at 11 a.m. around the Rehoboth Beach Bandstand. Some activities are weather dependent.

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. there will be balloon twisting by Snippy Doodles along with demonstrations and displays from local, county and state first responders. Activities from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. include demonstrations by USO Delaware, a military village and military vehicle display, a Veterans Mobile Unit from Veterans United Outreach of Delaware, a Rehoboth Beach VFW activity, a Fort Miles antique military display and 261st Coast Artillery re-enactor group, Fort Miles World War II 90mm restored artillery gun display and deuce-and-a-half cargo truck, plus a World War II searchlight operating into the evening hours.

Noon activities include a USO Show Troupe performance, and a Vintage Plane Flyover visible from the beach. At 3 p.m., kids can take an oath of office to become honorary Rehoboth Beach Junior Police officers at the Rehoboth Police Station, 229 Rehoboth Ave.

The U.S. Army Band Downrange will perform at 4 p.m. at the bandstand, and an evening Boardwalk dance led by the Rehoboth Beach Museum & Historical Society will take place from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
