April 7, 2025

The Beebe Healthcare Palliative Care team will present free workshops on advance healthcare directives at 9 a.m., Wednesday, April 16, at Lewes Public Library, 111 Adams Ave., Lewes; and at 9 a.m., Thursday, April 17,  at Millville Volunteer Fire Company, 35554 Atlantic Ave., Millville.

Following each presentation, personal assistance will be available for attendees from 10 a.m. to noon. Registration is strongly recommended; go to tinyurl.com/mv7z89u4

An advance healthcare directive is a legally recognized set of instructions from the patient to their medical providers. It will identify the individual the patient has authorized to make decisions about their healthcare choices if they are unable to do so themselves. The directive can also give specific directions about the care choices the patient wants at the end of life. The document includes a series of forms and is generally easy to complete.

On-site personnel offering support and guidance will be Katie Johnson, DO, Beebe director of palliative care services, and Beebe chaplains Keith Goheen, MDiv, BCC, and Paula Waite, MTh, ACC.

Any members of the community who wish to take advantage of this service but are unable to attend the workshops can contact Beebe’s Chaplain Office at 302-645-3759 for information and assistance.
