Betty Marie Gillis Lee, loved her family

Betty Marie Gillis Lee, 82, passed away Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022, at home with her family at her side.

Betty was born Jan. 21, 1940, in Lewes, daughter of Martha and Irving Gillis.

She married the love of her life, Everett Lee, in January 1956. They traveled to many places during his military career before settling in Goose Creek, S.C.

Betty was a volunteer at Howe Hall Elementary for many years before becoming a preschool teacher at the Goose Creek Recreation Center in 1998.

Betty is survived by her four children, Josh Lee (Jean), Carol Lee Sewell, Debra Lee Hern and Sandra Couch; grandchildren, Dallas Morabbi (Cosmo), Austin Hern, Colleen Hamby (Chad), Dakota Hern, Montana Hern, Sabrina Sewell (Tyler), Cooper Sewell, Zoe Hendershott and Johnathon Stoddard; great-grandchildren, Slade, Kovu, Sullivan, Quinndalyn, Vada, Sterling and Eleanor; and her beloved cousin, Robert Haddock of Wilmington.

Private memorial service will be planned at later date in Lewes.
