The Bioenergy Innovation Center near Seaford celebrated National Composting Day May 8. The event included displays by Delaware Master Gardners and the Nanticoke Watershed Alliance. Staff were on hand to explain the composting process at the facility, and several people walked away with free backyard composters. Bioenergy Devco, which operates the facility, recently gained approval to add an anaerobic digestion system to provide renewable natural gas and soil products from organic material. The company has a contract with Perdue Farms to recycle its poultry plant waste.
