In a historic achievement, Boy Scouts Troop 1 recognized its 100th Eagle Scout during a special ceremony held Nov. 26 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Lewes.
The honoree, Victor J. Goodhue, earned scouting’s highest rank after completing a service project at the Milton Little League that required raising $8,600 and spending more than 90 hours building two batting cages.
Family members, local dignitaries and fellow scouts attended the event, cheering as Victor received the prestigious Eagle Scout medal. Troop leaders highlighted the enduring legacy of the troop, which has served the community and has consistently inspired young scouts to pursue excellence.
The milestone underscores the troop’s commitment to nurturing leadership, citizenship and a spirit of service. Troop 1 Assistant Scoutmaster John Murray praised the dedication of scouts and their families, crediting teamwork and mentorship as key factors in achieving this landmark.
“For us as leaders, it’s pride in Scouts, but more importantly, it’s seeing them realize what they’ve achieved,” he said.
As Victor joins the ranks of distinguished Eagle Scouts, he expressed gratitude for the support he received and the lessons taught along the way.
The troop now looks forward to continuing its tradition of fostering growth and achievement in the next generation of scouts.
