The third annual Rehoboth Beach Santa Bar Crawl took place Dec. 7, with participants gathering at Above the Dunes to kick the event off.
This year’s event, which involved 25 participating locations, attracted 2,500 people, raised $14,000 for the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, and 4,000 donated toys for the Marine Corps Toys for Tots Foundation.
“For me, it is about the local community, and all those who have traveled from neighboring states, coming together to make a difference in the lives of others during the Christmas season and beyond,” said Rob Weed, founder and organizer of the Rehoboth Beach Santa Bar Crawl. “When I talk to people about toy donations, I tell them that it is so much more than just placing toys in a box. I want them to think about the smiles they are putting on the faces of children on Christmas Day. This year, by adding a second beneficiary, the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, the generous donations give back to the veterans, first responders and their families who sacrifice so much for us, sometimes with their lives.”
The event, which is known as a celebration of community, is also rapidly becoming known as a celebration of giving.
