Bump, Set, Light volleyball tournament raises $180K
The fourth annual Bump, Set, Light beach volleyball tournament held July 28 in Dewey Beach raised more than $180,000. The event proceeds benefit SL24: Unlocke the Light and Sean’s House.
The tournament is held in memory of Sean Locke, a 2012 Saint Mark’s High School graduate, a 2016 University of Delaware graduate and a former Division I basketball player who lost his battle with depression in July 2018.
SL24: Unlocke the Light helps educate, assist and support those battling depression and suicidal ideation. The movement is rooted in providing information, outlets and resources to the Delaware community.
Sean’s House is a mental health safe haven for young adults ages 14-24 created by SL24: Unlocke the Light. It promotes its guests’ mental wellness by providing access to trained peer support specialists. Guests are also connected with community mental health resources and provided space to do schoolwork, relax with friends or pick up a cup of coffee.
This year’s tournament, played on the court between The Lighthouse and Rusty Rudder, featured amateur division play during the day and pro division matches in the evening. Athletes came from California, Florida, North Carolina, New York, Virginia and Maryland.
