Sussex Consortium student charged after destroying classroom, threatening staff

A Sussex Consortium student faces charges after police say he damaged a classroom Sept. 13 and threatened to shoot staff.

Police were called to the school about 12:30 p.m. for a report that a student was destroying a classroom and threatening to shoot staff, police said.

The school was on lockdown when police arrived. Police said Michael Jones, 20, caused about $1,500 in damage to school property. He was taken into custody without incident. Police said no firearms were involved and no one was injured.

Jones was taken to Troop 7 where he was charged with felony terroristic threatening reckless disregard risk inconvenience to a school, two count terroristic threatening, criminal mischief over $1,000, and disorderly conduct. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and released on his own recognizance.
