CAMP helps community service projects

Events include garden project, job interview skills

Men and women from CAMP Rehoboth gathered March 12 to collect donations for the Cape Henlopen Food Basket. The pantry, located off Route 1 in Lewes adjacent to the New Life Thrift Center is open Monday, Wednesday and Friday, and on average volunteers serve about 20-30 households each day. “We heard that the food banks do well at holiday time, but by March they begin to be depleted, so we decided to help,” said Bonnie Quesenberry, one of the food donors.Shown are donors (l-t) Bonnie Quesenberry, Julie Peters, Beth Cohen, Pam Kozey, Anne Pikolas, Fran Sneider, Patrick Kelley, Marie Martinucci, Bryan Hecksher, Barb Ralph, Evelyn Maurmeyer, and Evie Simmons who came by with food for the collection. The CAMP Rehoboth Volunteer on Vacation program planning committee met recently to prepare for the 2011 season.

In addition to partnering with the West Side New Beginnings Community Center and CAMP Families, members are excited to be working with the youth of Burton Village.

Upcoming programs include a garden project, job interview skills and dressing for success, an art event, community service, a music event and an end-of-summer celebration and youth art expo.

CAMP Rehoboth’s Volunteer on Vacation Program offers volunteer opportunities to residents and vacationers through partnerships with the West Rehoboth Youth Program, CAMP Families and Burton Village as well as other residents in need.

CAMP Rehoboth is a nonprofit community service organization dedicated to creating a more positive environment in Rehoboth Beach and its related communities.

It seeks to promote cooperation and understanding among all people as they work to build safer, more inclusive communities with room for all.
