A small race on a sultry Sunday morning in a small town in the First State attracted just 81 runners, who completed the 19th annual Cannonball 5K & Trenny Elliott Memorial Walk.
Mike Sheerin, 38, of Pelham, N.Y., was the overall winner in 17:54. The top 18 runners broke 25 minutes, which is a sub-eight-minute-mile pace.
Sean Norris, 32, was second overall in 18:47, followed by Bryan Mack in 19:28, masters champion John Costello in 20:28, Cole Warthen in 21:04, Tyler Wright in 21:31, Beau Croll in 21:42, Adan Lawler in 22:35, Tim Foster in 22:52 and Quade Cummings, 13, in 22:58.
Susan Dunn, 46, was the first woman to finish and 13th overall in 23:11. Megan Mickley, 44, of Chadds Ford, Pa., won the female masters race in 26:40.
Magic Jack Noel, 84, crossed the finish line in 54:19, which he said was a modern-day personal record.

The eighth annual Paradise Grill Stop, Drop & Run 5K to benefit the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company is set for 10 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 17.
