Cape baseball holds post-season banquet

The Cape baseball team recently held its 2023 awards banquet, where boosters and parents honored the team and coaches for their season’s accomplishments.

The varsity Co-Offensive MVP award went to juniors Lex Westcott and Isaac Terhune. The Defensive MVP was given to junior catcher Brenn Scott. The pitcher MVP went to senior Nick Cox. The Varsity Sportsmanship Award was presented to sophomore Jaxon Clampitt. The Chris Short Award was presented to Brogan Evick.

The varsity Team MVP was awarded to Timmy Hitchcock.

First-team all-conference honors went to Cox, Hitchcock and Terhune. Junior Gage Joseph, sophomore Jase Mitchell, Westcott and Scott were named to the second-team. Honorable mention went to senior Owen Daminger.

Cox was selected second-team all-state, while Hitchcock and Terhune received honorable mention.

The junior varsity Offensive MVP was presented to Malachi Woods. The JV Defensive MVP was presented to Noah Wells. The JV Sportsmanship Award was presented to Max Selders. The 2023 JV Team MVP was presented to Chase Resnick.

Cape head coach Ben Evick, right, thanks assistant coach Drew Johnson for his expertise for many years of coaching. Johnson retired from the Vikings coaching staff recently to watch his son play at the college level.
