Though months had passed, the excitement remained recently when the DIAA state champion Cape Henlopen baseball team gathered together one last time to receive their highly anticipated championship rings. The team is very grateful and wishes to acknowledge and thank Scott Kammerer, SoDel Concepts CEO, and the SolDel Cares Fund of the Delaware Community Foundation, for the generous support and donation which funded a majority of the rings’ cost. The entire Cape Henlopen baseball community is very appreciative to SoDel Concepts for supporting its organization and mission.
“We are lucky to have such generous people and businesses in our community to help our athletes celebrate their successes,” said Cape coach Ben Evick. “It takes everyone from players, coaches, family members, local media and fans to support a successful program. We would like to thank everyone for their continued support.”
Cape posted a 16-2 regular-season record last spring before winning the Henlopen Conference championship game versus Delmar and four state tournament games to take the title. The Vikings defeated Appoquinmink 4-1 in the championship game at Frawley Stadium in Wilmington.
