The Mr. BOH team of Maryland Masters Lacrosse League won its division of the Half Century (50+ age) Lacrosse Tournament at the Florida Lacrosse Classic on Jan. 20 for the second year in a row.
Cape-connected players include midfielders Mike Faust (class of '79), Rob Orton (class of '82) and Clint Phillips (class of '80), all longtime members of the team, as well as former Cape lacrosse head coach Steve Aubrey, who serves as goalie.
This tournament is billed as the national championship for the Grandmaster (45+) and Half Century (50+) age groups because the most teams from across the country compete here every year. There were 19 Grandmaster teams in three divisions this year and 15 Half Century teams in two divisions.
The Mr. BOH team, aka Natty BOH, sponsored by National Bohemian beer, plays a spring and summer season in the Maryland Masters Lacrosse League and attends tournaments in Vail, Colo.; Lake Placid, N.Y.; and Ocean City, Md., as well as the Chesapeake Blue Crab and Laxtoberfest tournaments.
Smaller one-day tournaments include Rust Shaker in Baltimore, Md., plus the Fall Classic and St. Patty’s Day events in Fredericksburg, Va.
