Cape girls’ lacrosse scored three wins last week over three unbeaten teams, with victories over the Parkside Rams 18-3 April 2, Sussex Academy Seahawks 15-11 April 6, and the 6-0 Dover Senators 17-4 April 8.
Cape was in a close game at Dover, leading 3-2 in the early minutes of the game, then ran away to lead 10-2 at the half and 12-2 in the second half to start the running clock.
The Vikings relaxed April 9, playing the traditional Smalls versus Talls game; the small team was rocking the Batwoman theme, while the tall team were the Jokers.
Cape will face Milford Tuesday, April 12, then take a break until facing Broadneck (Md.) Saturday, April 23.
“Tall versus Small was a good way to end the week – just take a minute and relax again,” said coach Lindsey Underwood. “Broadneck is No. 20 in the country, so the girls will really have to focus when they get back after five days off.”
The back half of the season will see the team earning points for placement in the state tournament.
“Tatnall versus Sussex Academy will be interesting to watch,” Underwood said. “Everyone should be playing a full schedule again this year after a bunch of teams played shortened seasons, so I think everything is a little more up in the air.”
Cape goal scorers were Ella Rishko with five; Lulu Rishko with four; Sarah Naar, Kelly Bragg and Lexi Nowakowski with two each; and single goals from Lexi Truitt and Molly Mendes.
Mendes led the way with four assists, while Bragg, Nowakowski and Ella Rishko each also had an assist.
Dover goals were scored by Kyleigh Dill with two, and Kylla Henry and Ashtyn Torbert with one apiece. Torbert also had an assist.
Cape outshot Dover 37-19.
Saves for Dover were Anna Lopez with seven and Makaylah Lindsay with two.
Shiana Hall-Carter had eight saves for Dover.
