The Cape junior league All-Stars went 1-2 in District 3 play, ending the season with losses to Laurel 6-0 and Mid-Sussex 8-5 at Nanticoke Little League complex.
The normally hot Cape bats went cool for the 6-0 loss to Laurel in the second round of the District 3 tournament. The visiting Cape squad could only muster three hits.
Will Klemkowski garnered two hits, while Nick Petito had one for Cape.
Colton Crockett went 3-for-3 with an RBI for the Laurel squad. AJ Cannon went 1-for-2 with two RBIs. Uriah Taylor-Brown and Tristin Johnson each had a hit.
Pitcher Cameron Dieter helped himself at the dish with a hit and an RBI. He went the distance on the mound, allowing just three hits while striking out nine batters.
Cape pitchers Anthony Brittingham and Leyton Burke teamed for three strikeouts.
The Cape team had chances in the third and sixth innings, leaving players in scoring position both times.
Cape fell to Mid-Sussex 8-5 June 29.
Jimmy Swatski had two RBIs to lead the visiting Cape squad. Noah Hedrick went 1-for-2 with an RBI. Anthony Brittingham knocked in a run, while Hobby Ryan went 2-for-3 in the contest.
Swatski started on the mound and got one strikeout. Caleb Clark came in from the bullpen to strike out five batters.
Coy Collins picked up the win for Mid-Sussex. He tallied six strikeouts. Landen Roe came into the game in relief to face five batters.
Cape took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first, but Mid-Sussex scored six in the third and added two more in the fourth to take the victory.
Mid-Sussex will take on undefeated Laurel July 1 in Seaford.
