Cape lax girls run spread yellow, winning at Indian River 17-2

The Cape girls’ lacrosse team worked on the spread yellow delay game early Friday afternoon, April 4, beating Indian River 17-2 “down to Dagsboro” and improving to 5-0 on the season.

The Indians dropped to 4-2, with losses coming from Sussex Academy and Cape Henlopen. 

The stat line for Cape was Regan Best with three goals; Haley Gamuciello, Makenzie Todd, Mikaela Gordon, Ally Diehl and Claire Lopez each with two goals; and single goals from Avary Miller, Macy Steinwedel, Mairead Rishko and Allaire Burton.   

Assists came from Amara Fructman with three, and Lopez, Rishko, Burton and Lina Frederik each with two.

Miller and Steinwedel each had an assist. 

Abbey Schaeffer and Daisy Mastriana split time in goal for Cape.  

The Indians were paced by Chloe Harris with two goals. Chloe Megee had eight saves for the Indians.

Cape will stay on the road this week, playing at Milford at 4 p.m., Wednesday, April 8, then facing Kent Island Friday, April 11, followed by Marriotts Ridge Saturday, April 12,with both games at Queen Anne’s County High School. 

Notes: Sitting atop the Delaware standings as of April 6 are: Caravel 6-0, Caesar Rodney 5-0 and Cape 5-0.
