After Tuesday thunderstorms forced postponement to Wednesday, the Cape Major League softball all-stars released a torrential run storm to finish off Millsboro 14-2 and move on in the District 3 tournament.
They’re set to face Laurel Thursday, June 29, and Georgetown awaits the winner in the District 3 championship round.
The game resumed with two outs and two runners on base for Millsboro in the bottom of the first. That’s where the Millsboro threat ended.
The Cape squad added on to its 6-1 lead with four runs in the second and four more in the third to garner the 14-2 victory.

Lyla Hunsberger led the Cape team with four RBIs on two singles. Mia Scott, Addison Zimmerman and Savannah Books each drove in two RBIs, while Makaila Sellers and MaryKate Dougherty each added an RBI. Dougherty went 3-for-3 in the game.
Isabella Malandruccolo and Chloe Tonge led Millsboro with one hit each.
Zimmerman took two for the team, getting hit by pitches twice.
Teagan Baker picked up the win, going three innings and striking out six. Lily Frey came in from the bullpen to finish the game.
“It was a great team effort with every player on the roster contributing toward the victory,” said manager Jim Baker. “The team’s effort and focus have been exceptional, and you can tell they take a lot of pride in playing for Cape and for each other.”
