Cape soccer rolls full moon fever in 8-0 home win over Laurel

Cape has games left at CR and Dover

The Cape girls’ soccer team cut through the Laurel Bulldogs’ defense stealthily and suddenly May 9 at Legends Stadium, leading 5-0 at halftime, then cruising home for an 8-0 win.

The Senior Night victory raised the season record to 8-5 with games remaining at Caesar Rodney and Dover.

Cape got two-goal performances from Brayden Fannin, Brooke Hollingsworth and Lindsey Swontek. Paige Ludwicki and Claire Rasin had single goals.

Lucy Siranides went the distance in goal, getting the shutout and recording three saves. Monica Soto had 18 saves for the Bulldogs.

Laurel, coached by Joshua Scotton, is now 3-8 on the season.

Cape coach Patrick Kilby: “We lose two seniors. We are a young team, and next year should be a good year for us. We are still hoping to make the tournament this year.”
