Cape volleyball takes on Central in scrimmage

September 4, 2018

The Cape volleyball team finished up the preseason hosting a scrimmage with Sussex Central Sept. 30.

“This scrimmage was a nice final tune-up before the regular season begins next week,” said Cape coach Tyler Coupe. “Central played a much more aggressive offensive game than we’ve seen from them in the past, so that was a nice challenge for us defensively. We’re still running multiple lineups, as we try to find what options will work best for our team.”

The fourth-year coach believes he should be able to count on every player to contribute to the team’s success this season.

“We’ve talked in the gym that it doesn’t matter who we put out there; each girl should be used to practicing together and knows what responsibility each position on the court holds, and they all should be ready to go. We’re trying to focus on our mental approach and understanding that we’re all in this journey together this year, and we’re only as strong as our last player. We all need to push each other and hold each other accountable.”

The Lady Vikings will open their regular-season play Friday, Sept. 7,* as they host Delmarva Christian.
