Carl R. Barr II, proud veteran

April 10, 2023

Carl R. Barr II, 74, of Harbeson, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes. He was born April 24, 1948, in Milford, son of the late Carl R. and Janet (Walls) Barr.

Carl graduated from Felton High School. A proud veteran, he served his country in the U.S. Army between 1967-70. After his honorable discharge, Carl married the love of his life, Sandra Barr, April 15, 1972, and the two would spend 51 years making countless memories together and raising their beautiful family. He enjoyed a lengthy career as a master plumber, owning and operating Barden Inc. in Rehoboth Beach, retiring after 40 dedicated years. Carl then worked as a seasonal grounds crew member at Baywood Greens golf course in Millsboro; this would have been his 13th year. He enjoyed his home away from home in Rumbley, Md., where he and his wife created what seemed to be a waterman's oasis. Crabbing, fishing and camping kept them inseparable. He was nothing less than a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Carl was loved by so many; he will be forever missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Geraldine Morris of Chestertown, Md.; and a brother William Barr of Dover. Carl is survived by his beloved wife, Sandra Barr; his daughter, Melissa Perdue (Brandon); his grandchildren, Chase Atkins (Lexi), Chad Messick (Autumn), Jade Wilkins, Chelsea Huff (Zach), Jaclyn Gibbons (Trey), Jacob Perdue and Colton Perdue; his great-grandchildren, Greyson, Layton, Peyton and Carter; along with many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will take place at a later date.

Final care for Carl has been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
