Charles Robert Sweetman, Army veteran
Charles Robert Sweetman, 85, of Georgetown, died Thursday, Aug. 18, 2022, in Milford. He was born Dec. 20, 1936, in Wilmington, son of the late James F. and Bernice N. (Corigan) Sweetman.
Charles was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a member of American Legion Post 28 in Millsboro and Jefferson Lodge 15. One of his proudest accomplishments was enjoying 45 years of continued sobriety with AA.
Mr. Sweetman was preceded in death by his loving wife, Bertha Augusta Sweetman; and daughter, Diana Bernice Sweetman. He is survived by his son, Robert C. Fordham (Kathy) of Homer, Ga.; his grandchildren: Samantha Ashley Phillips, James Craig Fordham and Christina Sweetman; and his great-grandchild, Oliver Rowen Phillips.
Viewing hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 23, at Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Dodd-Carey Chapel, 307 N. Bedford St., Georgetown. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 24, at the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be held at 1 p.m., immediately following the funeral service, at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.
