Christine Gillan appointed Delaware Tech director of strategic communication
Christine Gillan has been appointed to the position of director of strategic communication in the Office of the President of Delaware Technical Community College effective Jan. 3. In her new role she will lead the college's government, community, media, and public relations initiatives.
Gillan joined the college in 2011 and most recently served as director of communication and planning at the Jack F. Owens Campus in Georgetown. Prior to her career at Delaware Tech, she owned a consulting business as an organizational communication skills trainer. She also served part time as a special projects coordinator in Gov. Ruth Ann Minner's office and worked in public relations for the Delaware Department of Transportation for 10 years, leading the department's government relations as manager of the External Affairs Division.
Gillan has served on a variety of college-wide committees. She was a co-chair of the 50th Anniversary Task Force and the 2014 Employee Recognition event and served on the Blue Print Task Force. She has also played a leading role in campus events such as the Starry, Starry Night Gala, the Sussex County Today and Tomorrow Conference, the 50th Anniversary Picnic and 30 Prizes in 30 Days, in addition to serving on committees for graduation, open house, and the fashion show.
Gillan has a bachelor's degree in communication from the University of Delaware and a master's degree in business administration from Wilmington University. She is currently enrolled in the University of Delaware's doctor of educational leadership program.
