New Covenant Church in Lewes will host a dinner Saturday, March 11 (snow date March 18), to raise funds to benefit its mission team’s outreach to the Batey Central School in Barahona, Dominican Republic.
Menu choices are shepherd’s pie, cottage pie or vegan pie, and cost is $25 per person. Doors open at 4:30 p.m., and dinner starts at 5:20 p.m. Seating is limited and advance ticket purchase is recommended; call 302-644-6800 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday to Friday. Anyone unable to attend the dinner but wishing to support this outreach can stop by or mail a check to New Covenant Church, 3072 Savannah East Drive, Lewes, DE 19958, or go to ncpchurch.com.
Event proceeds and other donations will benefit an ongoing church mission project to support the Batey Central School by covering costs for NCC children and their chaperones to stay at the school while helping local people build additional facilities. The adults will cover their own transportation costs.
Batey Central is a Christian school that opened in 2011 to educate children of Haitian immigrants or people of Haitian descent, many of whom have no Dominican Republic citizenship and are not entitled to education, medical treatment or other public services.
Donations can also be made to go exclusively to the Batey Central School. Call 302-644-6800 for more information.
