Coastal Dance Academy fall classes begin Sept. 12

September 7, 2011

This summer, Coastal Dance Academy's competition team of 24 dancers traveled to Orlando, Fla., where members competed at the Tremaine National competition. The junior, teen and senior teams competed in the tap, ballet, jazz and hip-hop divisions, placing in the top four against the best dance schools in the nation. The girls brought home two second-place and three fourth-place trophies. In addition, Shawnice Sekscinski was named 2011 Tremaine Studio Dancer of the Year.

Not only did the girls compete at nationals, but they also attended a weeklong convention held at the Renaissance Hotel across from Shamu's stadium. The girls took classes with top choreographers including Chuckie Klapow from “High School Musical,” and Sheryl Murakami, who won the 2011 MTV video music award for best choreography to Beyonce's "Run the World."

This year, Coastal Dance Academy is relocating to the Villages of Five Points in Lewes. With more than 30 classes weekly, the academy offers the best classes in jazz, hip-hop, tap, ballet, lyrical, pointe, acrobatics and ballroom dancing. The academy is recognized for excellence in technique, choreography and outstanding performances.
