Cordie Lee Wilkinson, active in church, community

July 20, 2023

Cordie Lee “Trip” Wilkinson, 92 of Lewes, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at her home. She was born June 24, 1931, in Washington, D.C., daughter of the late Bishop and Cordie Lee Moody.

Trip graduated from University High School Class of 1949. She continued her studies at the University of Kentucky, earning a bachelor’s degree in both English and elementary education. She enjoyed a career as a second-grade teacher at Lewes Elementary School but retired as a real estate agent. Trip had many hobbies and interests. She was an avid reader and loved to play word games and solitaire. Trip enjoyed nature and all things outdoors, and was a lover of all animals. In 2010, she helped research and compile a booklet, “Symbols in Glass,” a history of the stained-glass windows in All Saints’ Church.

Trip was always active in her communities. She was a member of Tri Delta Sorority, a Rehoboth Art League docent, a member of Village Improvement Association, DAR Colonel David Hall Chapter, a faithful member of All Saints’ Church, including its choir, St. Boniface Women’s Chapter and Thrift Shop, a volunteer for Rehoboth Public Library, Rehoboth Beach Museum, Delaware Republican Party, and was a Rehoboth polling site worker.

Trip loved to travel, and her journeys took her around the globe; however, Bermuda spoke to her soul. She spent many memorable vacations on its beautiful pink beaches and watched the sunrise from her timeshare for over 20 years.

More than all of her accomplishments and accolades, Trip cherished time spent with those she held most dear. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, stepmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Loved by many, she will be genuinely missed by all who had the good fortune to know her.

In addition to her parents, Trip was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Goodrich and James Wilkinson; her son, Bill Goodrich; and her stepgrandson, Kyle Gallagher. She is survived by her daughter, Laura “Win” Rosenberg (Hank); her daughter-in-law, Michelle Goodrich; her grandchildren, Jessica, Cordie Lyn and Leeann; her sister, Anne Page (Rosewell); her nieces, Peyton Wells (Mitch) and Courtney Ferrell (Wortie); her three grand-nieces and one -nephew; her stepchildren, Peter Wilkinson, Signe Wilkinson, Julia Wilkinson and Warren Wilkinson; a stepgrandson; and three stepgranddaughters.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 1, at St. George’s Chapel, 20271 Beaver Dam Road, Harbeson, where a graveside service will follow at All Saints’ Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Trip’s memory to All Saints’ Episcopal Church, 18 Olive Ave., Rehoboth Beach, DE  19971.
