Cristina Diane Rawley, passionate social worker
Cristina Diane Rawley, 33, of Smyrna and Lewes, passed away Monday, June 2, 2014, at Kent General Hospital in Dover.
Cristina was born Dec. 6, 1980, in Wilmington. She is the daughter of Ruby and Mark Schaeffer of Lewes and Smyrna, and Foster “Sandy” Rawley and his wife Shirley of Smyrna.
Cristina’s proudest accomplishment was obtaining her master’s degree in social work. She was passionate about her career as a social worker at the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill in Smyrna, where she loved, and was loved by, her patients and co-workers alike.
Cristina had the greatest sense of humor and she loved nothing more than a good prank. She lived life to the fullest. She was adventurous and recently fulfilled her dream of skydiving.
Crissy devoted her life to helping people and bringing joy and happiness to all. She had an infectious laugh and radiant smile that reflected her inner beauty as well as her outer beauty.
Crissy D was the brightest light in our lives and will be forever missed.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Ruby Keeler; and her grandfather, Foster I. Rawley Jr.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her best friend and grandfather, William Robert “Bob” Keeler of Smyrna; her grandmother, Ruth Rawley of Middletown; two sisters, Melanie Ballard and her husband, Dennis of Smyrna and Candace Simonini and her husband, Lou of Smyrna; two brothers, Mark Gerard Schaeffer of Dewey Beach and Clay Schaeffer of Smyrna; two stepsisters, Lauren Boyer of Millsboro and Kristin Niebergall of South Lake Tahoe, Calif. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, who were the lights of her life, Zoë, Sean, Katie, Jack, Mason, Natalie, Faith, Alyssa and Alexis; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and Ralph, her Chihuahua.
