CrossFit Rehoboth welcomes Melissa Wolf

June 4, 2015

CrossFit Rehoboth has announced the addition of Melissa Wolf to its rank of coaches. Wolf has successfully completed both CrossFit Kids and Level 1 courses.

Wolfe has a master’s degree in school psychology with a certificate of advanced study. She is a certified school psychologist in New York and Delaware for pre-K through grade 12. She has received both clinical and educational training and received commendation as an outstanding graduate student from the College of Education at Niagara University in 2011.

She began working full time with high school and middle school students, then transitioned to the consortium for one summer. She is currently working for Indian River School District at the Howard T. Ennis School, which primarily serves students with severe disabilities and autism.

"My educational background with children will benefit the CrossFit kids program because I will incorporate positive psychology to develop mental toughness which will increase athletic performance, all while keeping it fun," she said. "The goal of the program is to target intensity, continuity and balance. Overall, it will improve children’s general physical fitness and prepare them to be safe while participating in other sports.”

Wolf is a black belt in Isshin Ryu karate, a rank she attained in 2003. She started teaching adults and children at the age of 17 and has also taught kids' summer camps.

She is CPR/AED certified through the American Heart Association.

Her passion and love for athletics began at 4 years old. She has participated in a variety of sports, including 14 years of competitive dance (tap/contemporary), seven years of competitive soccer and competing as a CrossFit athlete for more than two years.

“My CrossFit journey has been full of positive experiences and, of course, fun and laughter," she said. "Becoming a CrossFit athlete has prepared me both physically and mentally to coach others. My own personal experiences have given me the knowledge, humility, perseverance and motivation to succeed, and I want to instill that in others."
