Delaware Interfaith Power & Light announces new executive director

May 21, 2023

Aaron P. Sharp has been named as the new executive director of Delaware Interfaith Power & Light, a nonprofit partnership to mobilize faith communities toward positive climate action. Sharp brings more than a decade of experience in the nature and conservation action sector, including with Delaware Nature Society, and maintains a deep commitment to environmental justice.

As an interfaith organization, DeIPL recognizes the moral responsibility to take bold action to address the existential threat of climate change.

“Aaron's expertise and passion for environmental justice will be invaluable in advancing the organization's mission and impact,” said Randi Johnson, DeIPL president.

"I am thrilled to join DeIPL in its efforts to bring faith communities together in the fight against climate change," said Sharp. "These are critical times, and DeIPL recognizes that nearly every faith tradition shares the view that the Earth is a sacred gift. Together, we work toward a common goal of creating a sustainable future for all Delawareans. I look forward to working with our board, staff and partners to advance this vision."

Since moving to Delaware in 2017, Sharp has worked with the Delaware Nature Society and the Wilmington Friends School. He officially began his tenure at DeIPL April 10.

“I look forward to the impact Aaron will have in leading the organization toward a more just and sustainable future,” said Mike Smith, DeIPL vice president.
