Election season is just around the corner, and the Delaware Stonewall Political Action Committee announced which candidates it will be supporting in 2018 during its annual fundraiser June 16 in Rehoboth Beach.

The PAC is a one-issue organization, and that one issue is the continued push for LGBT equality in Delaware, said Mitch Crane, Stonewall political vice president. In all but one race the group chose a Democrat.

In the race for attorney general, the PAC chose former state prosecutor Kathy Jennings over Dover attorney Timothy Mullaney, former chief deputy attorney general Lakresha Roberts and Wilmington attorney Chris Johnson.

In the race for auditor of accounts, Rehoboth Commissioner Kathy McGuiness received the nod over former Rep. Dennis E. Williams and former Chief Administrative Auditor Kathleen Davies.

In the race for state treasurer, Dagsboro resident Colleen Davis got the endorsement.

Speaker of the House Rep. Pete Schwartzkopf, D-Rehoboth, received PAC support in the 14th Representative District race, Jack Bucchioni was endorsed in the 20th, and Don Allan got the nod in the 36th. Dave Baker won support in the 6th Senatorial District race.

The lone Republican to receive an endorsement from the PAC was Rep. Michael Ramone, R-Middle Run Valley, who is up for re-election in the 21st Representative District race.

The committee did not announce who it will support for federal offices. U.S. Sen. Tom Carper and U.S. Rep. Lisa Blunt Rochester, both of whom spoke at the event, are up for re-election this year.

During the fundraiser, the committee also presented Rep. Bryon Short, D-Highland Woods, and CAMP Rehoboth’s Murray Archibald with awards for their work on behalf of the LGBT community.
