Delaware Symphony Orchestra to perform in Lewes Sept. 25

September 3, 2022

The Delaware Symphony Orchestra announced its 2022-23 season, which will mark Music Director David Amado’s 20th year with the state’s premier professional orchestra.

This season, the first full performance schedule in three years, will also see the organization’s return to concerts in Sussex County with two full shows at Cape Henlopen High School in Lewes.

“The DSO and I have planned a gorgeous, wide-ranging season – from Beethoven to Harry Potter, and most things in between,” said Amado. “It’s a wonderful way to launch back into our new normal, celebrating our orchestra, our audience, our state, and my own 20 years of being part of this landmark institution.”

The season’s Classics Series concert titled Made in America travels to Lewes for a performance at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 25. The program will feature the world premiere of Jennifer Higdon’s “Cold Mountain Suite,” based on her award-winning, Grammy-nominated opera, as well as works by Ives and Dvořák.

In March 2023, the Delaware Symphony will perform a dynamic concert featuring iconic Hollywood film scores from yesterday and today, including “Dr. Zhivago,” “Out of Africa,” “Casablanca,” “Star Trek: First Contact” and “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” among others.

“We are excited to return to perform for our many fans and friends in Southern Delaware,” said Executive Director J.C. Barker. “We have missed the opportunity to travel throughout our state, and we look forward to seeing you all again soon. It’s good to be back!”

Single tickets for all Sussex County performances range from $30 to $50 and are available now. To purchase tickets and learn more, go to delawaresymphony.org.
