Delaware Tourism invests $10,000 in West Side Creative Market

August 4, 2024

The Developing Artist Collaboration announced the Delaware Tourism Office is presenting sponsor of West Side Creative Market this season, with a generous investment of $10,000 for the operations, marketing and improvement of the open-air venue in West Rehoboth.

The DAC has invested these funds into extensive marketing efforts to increase market attendance this season. “This investment has enabled us to designate a large amount of our budget to marketing online and in our community, significantly increasing the awareness of the market. This year, we’ve seen record-breaking crowds, with a lot more visitors and tourists coming out for the first time. Best of all, we’ve received reports of increased sales from our artists,” said Patrick Gallagher, DAC marketing director.

The DAC opened the market to the community in May 2021 and made significant capital improvements to the space in 2022. What started as a dozen artists selling their work in an empty lot has grown into a thoughtfully designed space for locals and tourists to enjoy while sipping a cocktail, listening to live music, snacking on tasty food truck offerings, and supporting local artists. West Side Creative Market, 19826 Central St., Rehoboth Beach, is open 5 to 9 p.m., Mondays and Fridays.

“We are excited to announce that the Delaware Tourism Office is the proud presenting sponsor of the West Side Creative Market this season. DAC and DTO have proudly built a strong relationship since the pandemic. We are so grateful for their support and to have such a prestigious organization invest in our event,” said Leah Beach, DAC founder. “The Delaware Tourism Office and DAC have been collaborating since 2020. They have supported our DIY (do-it-yourself) Art Kits through their Delaware Discoveries Trail and have been dedicated to investing in our events since 2021.”

The DAC has estimated that, since they began their weekly art market initiatives, they have driven $1.7 million in sales by local artists, with those funds going back into Delaware’s creative economy.
