D.J. Farren, 19, wins Ashley Furio 5K in 18:25

The fifth annual Ashley Furio 5K Run/Walk held Oct. 2 at the Crooked Hammock to benefit the Children’s Beach House was won by 19-year-old D.J. Farren in a time of 18:25. 

Farren was pushed all the way by the Harrington Harrier Matt Sparacino, 43, the overall masters winner in 18:40.

Mike Sewell in 19:14, Tyler Hill in 20:53, Brian Shipkowski in 21:14, Owen Parsons in 21:38 and Elliot Parsons in 21:40 completed the top 7 finishers.

Megan McKim was the fastest female in 22:10. She was followed by Lily Manlove in 22:26, Briana Pollock in 22:56, Meryl Ludwig in 23:50 (first masters), Karen Dawson in 24:24, Mary Beth Wood in 24:25, and Beth Enos in 24:26. 

Overall, the blended feel-good fundraiser event included 140 runners, 87 walkers and 43 crooked crawlers (from post to party).
