Donna Kay Olson, very strong woman

June 5, 2017

Donna Kay Olson, 44, of Millsboro, passed away Friday, June 2, 2017, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, after a long and tough battle with illness.

She is preceded in death by both her parents, Lester and Becky Hitchens; also her grandmother Elva Murphy.

She leaves behind her husband, Christopher; sons Kyle Yerkes and Devin Olson; and stepdaughters, Kayla and Isabelle Olson. She also leaves behind her brother Brian Hitchens; her nephew Braeden Hitchens; and three cousins, James and Denise Taylor, Harry and Dan; as well as her mother-in-law, Lois Wheeler; sister-in-law, Jennifer Dixon and her husband Chuck and their two children Natalie and Trevor; a brother-in-law, Scott Hermiston and his son Hayden; and a stepdaughter from a previous marriage, Jessica Yerkes.

Although Donna was little in stature she was a very strong woman. She had been in and out of the hospital due to having cancer at a very early age and the residual side effects from that cancer treatment left her with multiple chronic illnesses. She was so grateful for everything. Donna was a loving wife and mother to both of her sons and stepdaughters. The Lord has taken her away from us but she is finally at peace and without pain.

A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, June 10, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Rt. 113, Millsboro.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes to honor Donna by making memorial contributions to her son, Devin Olson's Trust Fund. A basket will be set up in the funeral home by the register stand during the viewing for those wishing to contribute.

Electronic condolences may be made via www.watsonfh.com.
